REGULAR STUDENTS’ APPRAISAL OF COURSES AND TEACHING FOR THE FIRST SEMESTER OF 2016/2017 ACADEMIC YEAR (EVALUATION OF LECTURERS)

A delegation from Kennesaw State University (KSU), USA, has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to pursue a grant for the construction of a Public Health Training Centre.

According to the KSU delegation the proposed Public Health Training Centre would not only educate students on clinical health related matters but would equally put premium on violent prevention and conflict management as important facets of public health.

The Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Gina McCarthy has called on developing countries to employ innovations to fight climate change.

“It is necessary to think of innovations that will bring people out of poverty and not create further impoverishment”.

The Administrator was speaking to the media after a panel discussion on the topic: “Opportunity and Innovation: How the US is leading Global Efforts to Respond to Climate Change” at the University of Cape Coast.

A delegation from the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) who are on working visit to UCC has called on the Vice-Chancellor at his office.

AERC is a major teaching and research organisation collaborating with the Department of Economics.

Three officials of the Ghana National Association of the Deaf led by the Executive Director, Mr. James M. Sambian have paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah at his office to discuss possible ways of starting a course in Sign Language Interpretation in the University of Cape Coast.

This is to afford the Deaf in the society access tertiary education and enable them get employment in the formal sector.   The association has secured funding from the Danish government for a three-year period, ending 2018 to support the running of the course.

The College of Health and Allied Sciences has organised a send-off ceremony in honour of the Founding Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, Prof. Ernest Owusu-Ansah at the Coconut Grove Hotel.

Prof. Owusu-Ansah who retired from the services of the University in September 2016 was presented with a citation, cloth, cash and other items in recognition of his valuable contributions to the growth and development of the School during his tenure as the Dean.

The citation presented to him read as follows:

The Sports Section has held the 21st Inter-Hall Cross Country competition to hunt for quality talents for the upcoming Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) games, which will take place at the University for Development Studies, Tamale.

The keenly contested competition, organised under the International Association of Athletics Federation's(IAAF) rules, saw athletes from the Kwame Nkrumah Hall (KNH), Atlantic Hall (ATL), Oguaa Hall, Adehye Hall, Valco Hall and Casely Hayford (Casford) Hall.
