Nigeria High Commissioner visits UCC

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong has welcomed a delegation from the Nigeria High Commission in Ghana to the University of Cape Coast. In welcoming the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor mentioned that Ghana has had a unique relationship with Nigeria spanning many decades.

The Acting High Commissioner of Nigeria to Ghana, Amb. Gambo Yusuf Hamza, acknowledged the quality of education provided in Ghana and especially the University of Cape Coast. He reiterated similarities between Ghana and Nigeria and also pointed out his interest to have many more Nigeran students enrol in UCC. He suggested a partnership between Universities in Nigeria and the University of Cape Coast where there could be faculty, staff, and student exchange programmes to enable institutions in Nigeria and UCC learn from each other. He recommended that Management should reach out to private sectors in Nigeria to participate in the projects of the University. 

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dora Edu-Buandoh expressed appreciation to the Ag. High Commissioner for visiting the University of Competitive Choice. She explained that the University was keen on adding to the number of Nigerian students in UCC. “We are ready to work with your Office for more collaborations, and reach out to the Nigerian industry to see how they can also partner with the University,” she assured.

 

Present at the meeting was the Registrar, Mr. Jeff Teye Onyame, the Director of Public Affairs, Major Kofi Baah Bentum, the Head of Chancery at the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana, Mr. Ibrahim Abdulazeez Hong, the Provost of the College of Education, Prof. Martins Ekor, and the Dean of the Centre for International Education, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye.
