Dr. Brandford Bervell and Dr. Dickson Okoree Mireku put UCC on the
spotlight in University World News

The Deputy Director of Directorate of Research, Innovation and Consultancy (DRIC) Dr. Brandford Bervell and his co-author, Dr. Dickson Okoree Mireku of Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (DAPQA) have put UCC on the spotlight with their paper, "A decade of quality assurance in higher education (QAiHE) within Sub-Saharan Africa: A literature review based on a systematic search approach".

The key findings of the paper were featured in the 29th June edition of University World News online portal. The paper which was published in Higher Education journal by Springer Nature with an impact factor of 5.0 and ISI Web of Science Quartile 1 (Q1), became a topical issue for consideration of quality assurance in sub-Saharan African higher educational landscape.

Highlights from the paper and recommendations for policy and practice in higher education delivery in sub-Saharan Africa were provided for stakeholders to implement in order to promote the needed quality assurance in higher education within the sub-region.

Professor Wagdi Sawahel (Former Consultant for UNESCO and current Advisory Board Member for UNDP-GKI) an expert in higher education, saw the urgency and importance ofthe paper and developed the news item which featured in the AFRICA: Measures for HE Quality Assurance thematic area of the University World News.
