The South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Lulama Xingwana has paid courtesy call on the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Nelson Buah as part of her visit to the Central Region
Madam Xingwana explained that her visit was to familiarise herself with the Central Region adding that “Cape Coast is known as the Citadel of education in the country hence the visit.”
She noted that Ghana and South Africa have long standing relationship since the era of the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. She explained that Dr. Nkrumah spearheaded the fight for liberation. Ghana was the first country to host South African diplomatic mission after independence and it was therefore imperative to grow the relationship that exists between the two countries and their institutions of higher learning, the South African High Commissioner stated.
Responding, Prof. Nelson Buah indicated that the university was looking forward to building a stronger relationship with South Africa as well as her institutions of higher learning. “Gone are the days of people or institutions going all alone, now we are in the era of internationalization and building bridges,” he noted. He finally remarked that management of the university was looking forward to building a fruitful and mutual beneficial relationship with South Africa”.
Present at the meeting were the Deputy Registrar, Division of Legal, Consular and General Services, Mr. Moses Abnory and PRO, Major K. Baah-Bentum (rtd).
A Counsellor of the High Commission, Mr. Khuele Selai, accompanied Her Exellency Lulama Xingwana.
