A third-year student of the Department of Vocational and Technical Education (VOTEC), Charity Alagelam, has been adjudged the winner of the 2017 Maggi Star Cook Competition. Students from some selected tertiary institutions took part in the competition which was sponsored by Nestle Ghana Limited.
Faculty of Arts has honoured four retired teaching staff members for their meritorious service to the University. The four are Dr. (Mrs.) Cecelia Quartey, Ms. Comfort Asante, Prof.D.D. Kuupole and Prof. N.N Kuofie. They each received a citation for their immense contributions to the Faculty.
The Chairman of the National Teaching Council, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson says “Central to the Educational enterprise is the teacher”. “The role of the teacher, we are all aware, is such crucial that no nation can afford to ignore it”, he stated. Prof. Nyarko-Sampson stated this when he delivered an address at the launch of the 70th anniversary of the Komenda College of Education (Komenco) in Accra.
The Graduate Students Association of Ghana branch of the University of Cape Coast (GRASAG-UCC) has presented trophies it won at the 2017/ 2018 Inter-Hall Games competition to the Dean of School of Graduate Studies, Prof. Ernest Okorley, at his office.
GRASAG- UCC took the first positions in Basketball, Volleyball and Netball in the women’s category. In addition, GRASAG-UCC came first in the Volley ball men's division.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, has extended a message of goodwill to students at the start of the end of the first semester examinations of the 2017/18 academic year.
Prof. Ampiah, together with the Registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan and the Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Jeff Onyame, toured a number of examination centers to acquaint himself with preparations and to motivate the candidates.
The old students association of the University of Cape Coast Junior High School, UNIJOSA, has presented science laboratory equipment worth over GH 20,000 to the school.
The gesture, which was financed by the 1995, 2000, 2006 and 2012 year groups, was to encourage practical teaching and learning of integrated science in the school. The equipment comprised chemical food test,
magnetic fields, optic essentials, chemical food test, electronic playgrounds, chemistry kits, models of the human reproductive system and models of the digestive and respiratory systems.
The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has organised a festival of nine lessons and carols to usher staff and students into the Christmas season.
The event featured choirs such as Voices of Accountability and Pax Romana who thrilled the gathering with a wide repertoire of Christmas songs and choral music.
The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) has held a seminar for Graduate students of the University on the theme “Enhancing Capacity for Post Graduate Research”.
The seminar, which is held annually, was organised in collaboration with the College of Education Studies, College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, College of Health and Allied Sciences and the Graduate Students Association of Ghana.
