The Kuupole Foundation for Education and Advocacy, has donated various items valued at several thousands of Ghana Cedis to the University Hospital.
The former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole, who made the donation on behalf of the Foundation, said the items were to assist the Hospital to provide quality healthcare to members of the University Community and the general public. He indicated that the Hospital has been very beneficial to him personally in terms of his health, so in the past, he used to donate items to the facility on his birthday. He said after returning from sabbatical leave, he deemed it worthy to once again extend support to the Hospital.
Prof. Kuupole said though the Foundation was very young, with the assistance of National Investment Bank, family and friends, some essential items were mobilised to support the UCC Hospital.
The former Vice-Chancellor appealed to well-wishers, organisations, individuals and members of the University Community to come to the aid of the Hospital. “This hospital is really doing well and I always commend them for their dedication to duty despite the logistical and human resource constraints” he observed.
The donated items included a Cardio Monitor, 20 gallons of detergent, a box of hand sanitizer, 20 plastic chairs, a carton of Milo, three cartons of Milk, 30 pieces of pillow and three packs of toilet rolls.
In his remarks, the Director of University Health Services, Dr. Evans Ekanem, on behalf of Management and staff of the Directorate, thanked the Kuupole Foundation for the kind gesture. He gave the assurance that items would be used to provide services to the facility’s numerous clients. “We are ready to wash the feet of people in this community and we believe that in our time we shall see UCC and the Directorate rise” he noted. The Director encouraged other members to be motivated by the generosity of the Kuupole Foundation to help the Hospital enhance service delivery to its numerous clients.
