The University of Cape Coast (UCC), through the Students’ Financial Support Office (StuFSO), has awarded scholarships to 332 brilliant but needy students reading various programmes at different levels in the 2024/25 academic year.
The scholarship package covers full fees for the 332 beneficiaries.
At the Scholarship Award Ceremony, themed: “Transforming Potential into Performance: Navigating your path to personal and professional Excellence,” the chairperson of the Scholarship Selection Sub-Committee of StuFSO, Dr. Samue Kwesi Nkansah, challenged the beneficiaries to make the most of the scholarship to excel in their chosen fields of endeavour. He further encouraged the beneficiaries to amplify the values of the University.
Dr. Nkansah advised the beneficiaries to steer clear of social vices that could hinder their academic progress and urged them to uphold the trust placed in them by UCC.
He urged them to develop interest in entrepreneurial skills, be innovative and build excellent networks towards the future.
The Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Daniel Apaak, congratulated the beneficiaries and advised them to take advantage of the programme by taking their studies seriously so they would be able to attain their lifetime dreams.

He urged all the beneficiary students to rise beyond the circumstances of their birth and make their parents and community proud.
Prof. Apaak, who chaired the ceremony, advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity given to them to ensure that they would be a blessing to their families, UCC, and Ghana as a whole.
He told them to read extensively to broaden their knowledge and also be disciplined and focused.
A beneficiary, Brillience Afrane Boakyewaa, a Level 200 student of Communication Studies, expressed appreciation to UCC for granting them the opportunity to be part of the scholarship programme aimed at shaping their future positively.
Another beneficiary, Isabel Naa Norkor Noye, highlighted the timeliness of the financial assistance, stressing that it had come at a critical moment in her academic journey.
As part of the programme, StuFSO organised an Awardees Symposium to build the capacities of the beneficiaries.
The speakers at the symposium included Dr. Phanuel Wunu, UCC School of Business; Dr. Kyereme Tawiah Dabone, Faculty of Education Foundations; and Dr. Kwabena Antwi-Konadu, the Manager of the Campus Broadcasting Service.
