The University of Cape Coast (UCC) is set to send students to China for internship programmes at the Hunan City University.
This came to light following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between UCC and the Hunan City University. The partnership will last for five years, after which it will be re-assessed for impact and continuation.
Under the deal, which forms part of the Language Immersion Programme, students of Hunan City University majoring in English Language will also undertake internship programmes at UCC.
The signing was initialed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor of UCC, Prof. Mrs. Rosemond Boohene and the President of the Human City University, Prof. He Zhen, on behalf of their respective institutions.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rosemond Boohene, described the collaboration as a refreshing one that comes to augment existing efforts by the two parties in achieving higher heights in the areas of common interest.

"This is an opportunity for our students to learn some of the things from China so that we transfer them to transform society" she noted.
Prof. Boohene told the Chinese delegation that UCC had established the School of Engineering and since Hunan City University offers Agricultural Engineering, UCC would partner with Hunan City University in that area in the foreseeable future.
In his remarks, Prof. He Zhen thanked UCC for the warm reception accorded him and his accompanying delegation. He further expressed the hope that the collaboration would be a win-win situation that would enhance the image of the two institutions on the global map.
The Hunan City University President was accompanied by Prof. Wang Jianhua, Deputy Director of Hunan Provincial Department of Education, Dr. Jiang Yangfei, President of Hunan Vocational College of Science and Technology; Prof. Chen Guanghui, Vice President of Hunan Agricultural University; Prof. Xu Hongzhai, Lecturer at the School of Water Resources and Civil Engineering, Hunan Agricultural University and Prof. Ding Ming, Director of International Exchange Programs of Hunan City University.
