The Central Regional Head of National Insurance Commission, Mrs. Nicholina Naa Yeye Adumuah, has urged the public to safeguard themselves against unexpected risks and losses.

She, therefore, called on individuals and institutions to prioritise insurance as a means of providing financial protection against unforeseen events such as accidents, natural disasters, health emergencies, or property damage.

The University of Cape Coast and Cropron Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as part of a significant step towards the development and evaluation of soybeans for release as varieties in the country.

The School of Business of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has organised a day’s orientation programme for sixty personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) who have been admitted to pursue MBA in Accounting, Finance, Management, Human Resource, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Procurement and Supply Chain Management programmes.

The orientation programme was to take the students through the academic governance of UCC and to also allow the students to ask questions about academic activities at the University.

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS) has held its 2nd White Coat ceremony to mark the transition of 99 Pharmacy students into the clinical stage of their training. 

The White Coat ceremony is an integral part of Pharmacy education, emphasising the significance of the coat as the professional identity of Pharmacists and establishing defined expectations and responsibilities for students while still in training.

The Directorate of Internal Audit (DIA), University of Cape Coast (UCC) has held a three-day internal workshop themed, "Driving Excellence in the Internal Audit Profession".

The workshop was aimed at strengthening the capacity of audit staff by equipping them with the essential skills and tools to enhance their work. The workshop also served as an opportunity for internal reflection, assessment, and correction of gaps within the Directorate.

A delegation from the  United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Ghana has paid a courtesy call to the acting Provost of the College of Education Studies (CES), Prof. Douglas D. Agyei.

The visit formed part of measures to strengthen collaboration between the College and UNICEF to ensure inclusive education in the country.

Reconstituted members of UCC Council

The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has inaugurated a 13-member Governing Council for the University of Cape Coast at a ceremony at the Ministry of Education, Accra.

The reconstituted Council is chaired by Justice William Anaam Atuguba, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana. Members of the Council are: Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong; Dr. Abdul Nasser Alidu and Ms. Shika Acolatse (Government Nominees).

The Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), Dr Shafic Suleman, has assured management of the University of his topmost priority to ensure improved utility services on campus.

He indicated that he would use his good offices to improve the strained relations between UCC and ECG over frequent power disconnections.
